Peanut Has Arrived!!

on sunday, september 9th, our lives were changed forever when we welcomed our baby boy, sutton christopher, into the world! sutton was born at 8:22 pm weighing 9 lbs 4 ounces and measuring 21.5 inches long...a huge bundle of total cuteness! i never knew how much i could love this precious life God had blessed us with until the moment i saw his face. we have spent the past week getting to know the little sweet pea and falling even more in love every day with our son. we have been blessed with lots of love from our families being poured out on us and sutton as we begin this new journey as a family of three!

september 9th began for us at 3:30 am when my water broke. what an exciting feeling to know that was it...our little guy was on his way into the world! we gathered our stuff together, told tilly we'd bring her home a baby soon and headed to the hospital. we made a few early morning phone calls...i don't think anyone minded :) after checking into the hospital they decided to put me on pitocin to speed things up since my contractions weren't too strong yet. i won't go into all the details, but it was a very long and difficult day. sutton was a big boy and turned "sunny side up" (where he was facing out instead of into my tailbone, like he should have been) which made for difficult labor on top of the fact that my epidural wasn't working too well for me (to put it lightly!). about 7:30 that night it was decided that he wasn't coming out easily and it would be best for both of us to have a c-section. at 8:22 pm the new daddy and mommy were elated when we heard the cries of our sweet baby boy! i can't even describe what it's like to hear the sounds of a new life beginning and how greatful to God we are to be a part of this amazing miracle.

sutton christopher was named for his dad (steven christopher) and his granddaddy (steven sutton), just like his dad was named for his dad and granddaddy. chris and i love that it is a family name and that it means "a southern town". i still think peanut fits him better :)

Great "Pregnant-Moments" in History:

1. waking up from a 2 hour nap at 2:30pm with a taco bell craving, going to get taco bell only to sit in kroger's parking lot eating it before going in (so, that just happened and i had to laugh while i was doing it) :)

2. trying to strategically dodge people we know while out shopping for preggo/baby stuff before telling people we were pregnant. does everyone we know shop at that target??

3. taking a whole minute going through the enormous effort of trying to flip my giant belly over in bed so i can tell schmoopy that i'm hungry only to promptly fall asleep

4. almost tearing off my toenail on my hospital bags during a return to bed from a "pee trip" in the middle of the night - delaying my pedicure for 2 weeks (that's the real tragedy!)

5. on my last day of work...forwarding a "free pearl necklace" to the MALE director of technical marketing instead of my friend with the same last name. lucky for me he knows me and that i'm suffering from baby-brain and he has a great sense of humor. he just emailed me back saying, "thanks, but i don't look good in pearls :)"

6. going from my last doctor's appointment weigh-in (i gained exactly the top end of my goal weight-gain) directly to the donut shop!

7. making jacob, trish, dakota and chris all stop at chick-fil-a on the way home from a labor day party because me and baby are DYING for a real coke!

8. taking the elevator upstairs to the cafeteria at work to get some breakfast, two guys asked me, "do you know what you're having?" i say "no", because who knows what they want for breakfast before they see what's being served....then i realized they were talking about my ginormous belly and whether the baby inside was a boy or girl....not breakfast. (goes to show where my priorities are when i'm hungry!)

9. surviving all the "how far along are you? wow! that's gonna be a big baby/are you having twins/i don't think you're gonna make it/you're about to pop/etc." comments without throwing anything at anyone :)

10. waddeling around the neighborhood this last week with tilly (i was waddeling, not tilly) trying the make our baby boy come sooner!

i'll have to ask schmoopy if he has any other memorable moments :)

i treated myself to a pedicure on friday (my last day of work for a while!!) and just thought i should show off how great they finally look :)

there we go! i'm all set now with my pretty feet. peanut just needs to hurry up and come so i can stop shaving my legs every day!!!
